Abstract
This volume was a high school Home Science resource. It contains ‘Class exercises’ such as listing and costing items of clothing and comparing the cost of certain items of clothing with ‘wears-per-year’. It advises that 10-15 percent of the family budget (see pie chart above) is spent on clothes and sharing this amount amongst the family requires ‘good sportsmanship’. It promotes ‘intelligent buying’ and asks ‘when is a bargain a bargain?’ A ‘teacher only’ chapter at the end of the pamphlet has a reminder – many students ‘have had no experience in handling money’ and need to be taught good judgment with regard to choosing the best clothing purchases for their needs. Something all self-respecting girls (and boys) should know!!
