Abstract

Lin Carter (1930-1988), whose real name was Linwood Vrooman Carter, was a prolific SF and Fantasy writer. His Wizard of Lemuria was published by Ace in 1965. He was editor for Ballantine Books from 1969-1974; he collaborated with numerous writers including L. Sprague de Camp, and he was particularly active in fandom. For some unknown reason there were 20 short articles by Carter found embedded in Salive’s archive. They had all been ripped out of the magazine If Worlds of Science Fiction. Here is a Carter publication that escaped this fate: The Man who Loved Mars, described by Isaac Asimov as ‘exciting and imaginative’. (Cover artwork by Paul Lehr.)
