Anomalistic psychology is the study of human behaviour and experience connected with what is often called the paranormal, with the assumption that there is nothing paranormal involved. The sexologist Albert Moll (1862-1939) wrote Christian Science, Medicine, and Occultism (1902), an early text on this subject, which severely criticised the Christian Science of Mary Baker Eddy, and spiritualism and occultism in general. Moll’s book contains passages relating to the ‘treatment of lunatics’ and ‘results of hysteria’; perhaps these attracted King to this book. King was critical of many things; it is unclear whether he championed Moll’s views. This book is signed by Truby King.
