In October 1907, six months after the establishment of the Plunket Society, King’s Karitane Home for Babies moved into Dunedin. A house in Every Street in Anderson’s Bay was leased from Dunedin businessman and Plunket Society supporter, Woolf Harris who was then living in London. Sitting on three acres of gardens, the villa had fine views of the city. It was called the Karitane Harris Home for Babies and was officially opened in December 1907; King oversaw the transfer of the babies personally from Karitane. Here are some of the nurses and their charges enjoying the fresh air and sunshine, which was all part of the treatment.
