Abstract
Accompanying Gill’s carvings of Prospero and Ariel at Broadcasting House, Langham Place, London, was The Sower, a back-to-the-land male figure distributing corn. Gill called it a ‘good image of a broadcaster’; BBC security staff termed it the ‘Overtime King’, handing out the overtime hours on extra pay.
