Along with Canadian artist Hubert Rogers, Henry Richard van Dongen was a ‘preferred’ cover illustrator for Astounding/Analog magazine in the 1950s. Number seven in the list of top ten artists for the magazine, van Dongen painted 49 covers in total; he also completed interior art and artwork for novels. Hal Salive may have paid $2.15 for this September 1980 issue.
