Abstract

‘The subject [of crazing and peeling of glazes] bristles with unsolved riddles and unexplained mysteries which have inflamed the imagination and stimulated the zeal of investigators…’. So begins Mellor in this chatty yet technical coverage of this topic, issued by the British Ceramic Society in January 1935. There were inherent complexities in the subject, and Mellor – in his typical thoroughness – was prepared to wrestle with it and advance the investigation.
