Abstract

This volume of the works of Plato is from the Canon Shoults Collection, which arrived at Selwyn College about the 1890s. The original binding was replaced with this very tidy brown calf binding done by the local Dunedin firm of Fergusson and Mitchell. Their ‘Princes Street’ label is pasted on a fine sample of marbled endpapers; these small items are very collectible. Like the other volumes in the set, this volume has delicate gilt turn-ins and marbled edges.
