The Eventful History of the Mutiny and Piratical Seizure of H. M. S. Bounty

Wallis was accompanied by Philip Carteret in the Swallow. Despite horrendous storms, an outbreak of scurvy, and separation from Wallis, Carteret went on to discover Pitcairn Islands, re-discover Mendaña’s Santa Cruz, and name Gower Island, part of the Solomon Island Archipelago. Pitcairn is best known as home of the descendants of the Bounty mutineers, and the associated 3600 mile boat voyage by William Bligh and eighteen men. The frontispiece to John Barrow’s pocket history depicts Hannah Adams and George Young, children of mutineers John Adams (‘Alexander Smith’), and Edward Young.
