Abstract

In the first half of the 20th century Paris led the way in all things elegant. Parisian brothers Jules, Louis and Henri Seeberger photographed the most fashionable people in Paris society, creating a unique record of how fashion was actually worn from 1909 to 1950. Among the world’s first photographers of fashion, they were commissioned by La Mode, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and others to record the fashionable wealthy wearing the world’s most exclusive clothes. These Paris fashion plates brought fashion clues to readers around the world, while chronicling the unique period before fashion photography shifted focus onto studio models.
