Abstract
One of Truby King’s assertions was that insanity was a consequence of inadequate diet and rearing; a good, balanced, wholesome diet would go a long way towards prevention and cure. He turned to experts like the American physiologist and nutritionist Graham Lusk (1866-1932), who worked hard at creating order in the science of nutrition. This book contains evidence of King’s reading: marginal marks, ticks, underscoring, word-replacements, and pencil lines that delete various passages. In instances King rewrites Lusk, no doubt with an eye to appropriating the text for his own lectures and publications.
