Abstract
Eric Gill’s younger sister Angela modelled for this sculpture, which was first known as Humanity, and then renamed Mankind. Carved in 1928 from a large piece of Hoptonwood stone, it is regarded as one of Gill’s most impressive carvings. It is now at the Tate Gallery, London.
