This slim volume contains Gill’s essay ‘It All Goes Together’, which is a phrase that sums up his personal credo. Over and over again he reiterated the need for ‘wholeness’, railing against the divisive worlds of industry and commerce versus all that was good in art. To him, Life was not to be divided into compartments such as Work, Leisure, Art, etc. It was to be lived as a whole, so that everything such as work is enjoyment and responsibility and prayer and the creation of beauty was all wrapped into one. Gill lived his life attempting this impossible feat. This book belonged to Charles Brasch.
