These two books have been tastefully rebound in red morocco (goatskin) and given a gilt wreath centrepiece on their covers. They each have attractive marbled endpapers, gilt edges, and the turn-ins near the edges have been generously tooled. Marbling was originally perfected in the Middle East, and then it was adopted in Europe and England by binders in the early to mid-17th century. Popular patterns included the comb, curl, or snail styles. Both books were once owned by Richard Montgomery Gilchrist Potter (1898-1941), a bibliographer of the works of Rupert Brooke, and Charles Conover Kalbfleisch (1868-1943), a member of the Grolier Club from 1893.
