Label by Dr B.H. Howard: Duppa's Allington. The house has long since disappeared, but the name is still used by the present. The site is on the Highway from Nelson to the Buller just before it crosses the Wairoa River. national Highway No 6. Half-mile before the right turn into Bridgewater. Sir William Fox who well knew the interest I took in old New Zealand & was a frequent visitor at my house, promised to bequeath me these sketches which he commenced to take from the time of his arrival in New Zealand in 1842.
