Abstract

This handsome hardback publication from Otago University Press is Harvey Brown’s biography on Pickerill, ‘pioneer in plastic surgery, dental education and dental research’. Dr Brown was well qualified to write on Pickerill. He is a qualified dentist, was a lecturer in the Department of Preventive and Social Dentistry, researcher, and between 1975 and 2002, editor of the New Zealand Dental Journal. He is a Life member of the Dental Association. The portrait of Pickerill that graces the cover of Brown's volume was executed by New Zealand artist Lois White (1903-84) in 1956.
